We are a private, non-profit, fully-integrated, pre-hospital healthcare provider. We have accountability to the Washoe County District Board of Health and a volunteer board of directors comprised of healthcare and business leadership from across the region. REMSA’s response times consistently meet or beat the requirements and it is renowned nationally for its quality, performance and innovation. Ground Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority (REMSA) was established in 1986 with only a handful of ambulances and staff. REMSA now has a fleet of 45 ambulances and is the busiest ambulance transportation company in the region. Learn More Air Care Flight crews are highly-trained, specialized teams of medical and aviation professionals. With expanded scopes of practice and additional training, these crews are ready to provide life-saving, evidence-based healthcare on the ground and in the air. Learn More Communications REMSA Communications is known primarily to the community as the dispatchers who answer 9-1-1 medical emergency calls for all of Washoe County. They gives life-saving instructions, critical information, instructions, encouragement and support while callers await the arrival of EMS. Learn More Special Teams The Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) and Search and Rescue (SAR) teams are able to provide Advanced Medical Life Support alongside SWAT officers during law enforcement events or with the sheriff’s department during a variety of back-country, mine and swift water rescuers. Learn More Fleet REMSA operates 44 advanced life support ambulances including gurneys and stair chairs, as well as specialty and supervisor vehicles ensuring our entire fleet meets national safety standards and is ready to respond when needed. Learn More Critical Care Transport A Critical Care Transport ground ambulance features state-of-the-art equipment and is staffed by a Critical Care Nurse, Critical Care Paramedic, and an EMT driver so we can provide the advanced transport care regardless of distance weather, terrain, injury, illness. Learn More Community Health Programs Innovative Patient Care REMSA’s Community Health Programs create new care and referral pathways to assure patients receive the safest, and most appropriate, levels of quality care. In addition, patients discharged from the hospital with conditions such as congestive heart failure receive in-home follow-up care. Nurse Health Line REMSA's Nurse Health Line is an Accredited Center of Excellence staff with specially-trained registered nurses available 24/7 to provide assessment, care recommendations and/or referral to the appropriate health care or community service. Community Paramedics Patients have access to in-home care from community paramedics after referral from a primary care physician or other referring healthcare provider. This group of specially-trained paramedics evaluates patients and performs tasks under approved protocols. Alternative Destination Transport Alternative Destination Transport program provides alternative pathways of care for 9-1-1 patients, including transport of patient with low acuity medical conditions directly to urgent care centers and clinics, as well as other transport options. Special Events Our Special Events team provides EMS services for more than 700 events per year, ranging from small gatherings to weeklong celebrations. This team is agile, flexible and offers specialized care and vehicles to match the needs of the event.
